In 2012 Ken Droog co-founded the charity, Kitingforkids, a group of avid kite boarders that have a love for the sport and a desire to make a difference. The group raises funds through Kite events. All funds go to the Children’s Miracle Network and BC Children’s Hospital. All costs of gear and behind the scene costs are born by the participants & volunteers and use no money that is donated, ensuring 100% of donations go to the Hospital.
The second Georgia Strait crossing took place July 3rd 2015 crossing and fundraising efforts for the BC Children’s Hospital took place on July 3 2015. 11 Brave kiters took launch from Sebastion Beach in Lantzville B.C. ( a great launch for a NW). 7 kiters made the crossing successfully.
